It is set with a central oval amethyst. This is repeated as a drop tapering downwards.

The antique piece of jewelry is set with numerous fine seed pearls in a bud pendant, which was very typical for the period around 1900 in England.

In a magnificent interplay of the finest yellow gold and purple amethysts, the pendant also appears as a brooch. 

This dynamic, swinging form can be attributed to the Art Nouveau period.
